Link to a forum : Anyone tried Yahoo Domains?
07-21-2006(22 posts)
"Hi
I was wondering whether anyone here has tried registering with Yahoo domains? They aren't really overpriced, and give the first year at yahoo for $2 or $3... this seems like a good idea if you want to test traffic for a year (unless you have to agree to renew the domain).
Has anyone ever tried yahoo domains? Is it a good deal or not? What is the Yahoo support like?"

Link to a forum : Using a domain from Yahoo
2006-08-26 (5 posts)
My Yahoo domain is www.madaboutmaple.com, I've set up madaboutmaple.o2fan.com (o2fan.com is my dreamhost hosted server).
The Non-editable DreamHost DNS records For madaboutmaple.o2fan.com are:
Record (o2fan.com zone) Type Value
madaboutmaple A 208.97.162.117
ftp.madaboutmaple A 208.97.162.117
www.madaboutmaple A 208.97.162.117
I logged into my Yahoo cpanel and changed www.madaboutmaple.com and madaboutmaple.com to A records to point to 208.97.162.117.
However, everytime I attempt to go to www.madaboutmaple.com, I recieve this error page:
Site Temporarily Unavailable
We apologize for the inconvenience. Please contact the webmaster/ tech support immediately to have them rectify this.
error id: "bad_httpd_conf"
However, madaboutmaple.o2fan.com works fine.
Here are all my DNS (forums.madaboutmaple.com are pointing to a remotly hosted forum, this works fine):
A Record *.madaboutmaple.com 208.97.162.117
A Record forums.madaboutmaple.com 209.85.12.235
A Record madaboutmaple.com 208.97.162.117
A Record mail.madaboutmaple.com 208.97.132.20
A Record www.madaboutmaple.com 208.97.162.117
CNAME Record *.madaboutmaple.com Yahoo!Hostname
I've even changed my Yahoo nameservers to the following:
Primary ns1.dreamhost.com
Secondary ns2.dreamhost.com
Additional ns3.dreamhost.com
I hope that I've provided enough information for a solution to this problem!
Thank you very much for your time and any assistance provided,
Manoz"

Link to a forum : Yahoo! Domain $4.98! Catch?
28-01-05
"EDIT: 2/2/05.
Dear friends,
I started this thread last month to check if there was a catch in Yahoo's domain deal.
Here was my query on this thread:
----------------------------------------
Yahoo! charges you $4.98 to register your domain. Good for one year.
Sounds like a great deal.
I'm thinking about registering here.
Is there a catch that anybody can advise me about before I do so?
Thanks.
Newbiemia.
----------------------------------------
Finding no response to this query, I tried a little more research, and found nothing. Therefore, I went ahead and registered.
BIG MISTAKE!
Ever since then, I experienced hours upon hours of aggravating nightmarish living hell on earth.
I eventually created a website about my entire horrible experience: http://www.caliditta.com/yahoo.htm.
Yahoo is a scam artist. There are many websites out there warning users to stay away from them. I'm only sorry I never saw them sooner.
Please Please Please stay away from Yahoo!
Yahoo attaches recurring automatic carges to your credit card. To some this may not matter, but to any with a graduate level education in Business Administration and Marketing, this is elementary reperatory straegy. Popularized first by Colombia House, and later by America Online. To some, this may still not matter, but I advise you to consider the consequences of these types of deals. I have fallen prey to them more than too many times. Yahoo is no exception. Please do everything you can to stay away from Yahoo and any company that would use such forms of marketing practices.
Your friend,
Newbiemia"

Link to a forum : Anyone have experience with a Yahoo! Domain?
" Hiya,
Here's the situation. A client owns a domain name purchased through yahoo! (It's one of those "register your domain for e-mail deals - $35 a year plan). You can easily have the domain redirect to any site.
Now, we've built a web site, set up the mail server and all of that jazz and I need to update the nameservers so it switches over. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how. The client DOES own the domain and it's registered through some registrar in Australia. When I go there, it says I need a key, but when I ask for that key, it says I've got to get it from the reseller who sold me the domain.
So, I've got my client's login info and I'm going around yahoo and I can't find diddly-squat on how to do it (not even a support e-mail address!). Does anyone have any expoerience with managing a domain registered with yahoo?
TIA,
G."

Link to a forum : Yahoo Domain Name Email Problem
" I have two yahoo accounts set up on my iPhone.
1. Traditional Yahoo account: username@yahoo.com
2. Yahoo Domain Name account: me@mydomainname.com
I receive email and can view folders. I can send from the traditional Yahoo account just fine. I use to be able to send from the Domain Name account, but I noticed a few days ago that when I send from the Domain Name account, it actually is being sent by my traditional yahoo account, even though I am replying or emailing from my domain name account.
I think this was working about 1 week ago. The only change I have noticed that could have cause this, is my Yahoo Domain Name account recently switched over to the New Yahoo Mail (no longer the Beta).
Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas on how to get my Yahoo Domain Name email to send from that email address? Thanks in advance."
